encounter. Rhetorical or pre-adjunct questions at the beginning of a video can stimulate the learner's
attention. These questions serve as a method to motivate the learner to focus and look
forward to specific details in the video.
Post-adjunct questions encourage learners to apply the learned knowledge and even
build explanations and expectations to go beyond the instructional material.
Participants tend to learn better with worked-out examples.
Memorization-level questions enhance memory and can be either recognition questions or
constructed recall questions. Asking a learner to recall and recognize specific
instances, principles or rules from memory that were taught in a previous video
can boost knowledge retention.
Prediction questions are a beneficial technique designed to challenge learners to
make predictions at specific points. The benefits of predictions have been
studied in multiple eLearning tools. It is believed that asking learners to
predict what is going to happen requires the use of pre-existing knowledge and
thus contributes to the processing of information.
Feedback is given immediately after the participant answers. Within
our videos, we confirm and explain the correct answer, and we encourage
students to re-think the wrong answer. According to researchers Nicol and
Macfarlane-Dick (2005), good feedback practice facilitates the development of
self-assessment in learning.
Flashcards help students to learn concepts and facts. Utilizing a
concept known as spaced repetition, one of the most
effective ways to study flashcards, students can print out the cards, study for
a minimum of two 15-minute sessions with a 5-minute break in between. Then,
wait to review again until the next day.
Open-ended assignments allow students to practice and apply what they have learned. The
assignments are graded and feedback is provided.
Quizzesand exams included at the end of each course provide a valuable
assessment for students to apply what they learned.

Sharp Development Partners is founded by Charli Sharp, an agency pro with a background in corporate training. She started her agency career as an Account Coordinator at one of the largest mid-size agencies where she moved through the ranks, training junior employees and leading the internship program for the office. She quickly realized that interns and entry-level employees were not provided sufficient training nor set up for success from the onset. As a result, she developed a program whereby interns participated in mini trainings with subject matter experts across the agency. Prior to the agency, she worked at Dale Carnegie Training, which instilled in her the value and importance of continued professional development. Most recently, she accepted a position where she was tasked with building from the ground up an “in-house agency,” while simultaneously developing her direct reports. Her agency and client-side experience and passion for mentoring others led her to create Sharp Development Partners to train entry-level new hires and junior-level employees. Charli received her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) through the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).
